For our Fourth of July party last year I wanted to have a little fun with the kransekake and experimented by adding just a little bit of gel food coloring to the homemade dough. It turned out in a spectacular fashion! Any color combination is possible! Always having extra kransekake dough, I used the leftover to make the star and heart cookies to decorate. If you would like some extra cookies to have on the side or to decorate your kransekake I can make that happen! Here's also some examples of other colored kransekake I have made.
